Mordecai (Mordy) Newman holds both a law degree and a prior MFA from the Yale School of Drama. Until his retirement from the law a few years ago, his public performances consisted mostly of arguing in front of panels of appellate judges. Since then, voice-over characterizations have satisfied his desire to perform. Character gigs have included an inept Russian spy, a Southern plantation owner, a Vietnam vet suffering from agent orange exposure, and more. You can currently hear his Karloff-like narrations in a series of animated Youtube videos drawn from Joe Hill’s best selling horror novel “NOS4A2.” (See on Youtube “Christmasland is Waiting,” “The Graveyard of What Might Be,” and “Who’s Charlie?”.) He has also been the voice of Retter & Co., a subsidiary of Sotheby’s International Realty, in a couple of TV commercials that ran in the northwest.
